The TexasElementary School of the Arts (TESA) Dress Code is established to teach grooming and hygiene, prevent disruption, minimize safety hazards, and create a
sense of equality and unity on our campus. Students at TESA wear uniforms that include: *items with asterisk* are required items, all others are optional.
Unisex Items:
*Short sleeve Polo knit (*hunter green w/logo, or navy)
Long sleeve Polo knit (hunter green or navy)
Sweatshirt w/Logo (navy or hunter green) (PTO fundraiser)
Hoodie (navy) – w/Logo (PTO fundraiser)
*Belts (brown, black, navy blue) (Available from any source, solid colors only.)
Girls:
*Slacks - pleated front (khaki)
Slacks – plain front (khaki)
Jumper (plaid #35) (shorts must be worn underneath)
Short or long sleeve Peter Pan blouse (white) (must be tucked in if worn with pants or skirt)
Capri slacks (khaki)
Skirt (plaid or khaki)
Skort (plaid or khaki)
Boys:
*Slacks - pleated front (khaki)
Slacks – plain front (khaki)
Walking shorts (khaki)
Footwear:
*Socks: which cover the ankle, knee socks, or tights (no leggings) must be worn (solid uniform colors only: navy, hunter green, white, or khaki)
*Shoes: any closed toe, closed heel shoe (shoes should be comfortable and practical for school)
Tights - white, navy, or hunter green (may be worn in place of socks) NO leggins
No sandals, backless, toeless shoes, boots, or high heels
P.E. / Dance Uniform:
*Black gym shorts (minimum of 7 inch inseam, maximum 9 inch inseam)
*White T-Shirt – for P.E., no writing/pictures/logos except for the TESA logo
*Black T-Shirt – for dance, solid black, short sleeve with no writing
Sweatpants (black only)
*Athletic / tennis shoes for PE and ballet shoes for dance class(black for boys, pink for girls)
TESA Uniform and Dress Code

Shall not lead school officials to believe that such dress or grooming will disrupt, interfere with, disturb, or detract from school activities.
Shall not create a health hazard to the student's safety or to the safety of others.
It is recommended that elementary dress be appropriate to the school day's activities. Field trips may indicate the students are to wear the required uniform items.
Clothing which exposes the stomach and hips shall not be worn.
Jumpers may not be hemmed shorter than two inches above kneecap.
Student names can be monogrammed on uniform clothing, including the sweatshirt and hoodie.
Shorts MUST be worn under jumpers and skirts, but should not be visible.
No hats or scarves are to be worn inside the building except for special days.
Girls may wear non-distracting hair accessories in keeping with the color of our uniforms.
No degree of sag (pants) will be permitted. Belts must be worn with any pants or skirts that have belt loops.
Khaki slacks must be fitted at the waist with no more than four (4) pockets; two in the front and two in the back, no cargo pockets.
Khaki must be uniform khaki color not sand, stone, tan, beige, or camouflage.
Jewelry that causes a distraction or is of a dangerous nature will not be allowed.
Non-uniform coats and jackets may be worn outside of the building.
Polo shirts must be Pique knit polo style shirt with ribbed collar and banded sleeves with 3 - 4 buttons.
Students may wear long-sleeved t-shirts or turtlenecks under their polo shirts (white, navy or hunter green).
The school administration shall have the right to appraise any clothing issue. The administrator's decision shall be final.
Students who come to school out of uniform will be sent to the office to receive a letter describing any clothing that is not in compliance with the dress code. In the event of a third warning, a parent conference will be scheduled.
